We never heard about buyers of other ex-General Motors brands – Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer – taking to their keyboards to research new rides when the lowered boom crushed them all. Even though they would have been warrantied and supported by a still-living GM. Continue Reading

It might have been a worthy successor to the Pontiac Vibe – a stylish, youth-marketed crossover – but alas, the GMC Granite may never come to be. Jim Federico, GM’s small car exec, told Automotive News that the Granite concept from the 2010 Detroit auto show isn’t headed into production. Continue Reading
General Motors has just unveiled the Tru 140S Concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the second of it’s youth-oriented concepts. Spiritual sibling to the Code 130S Concept, the Tru 140S is designed to bring exotic styling to the compact segment. Based on the bones of the Chevrolet Cruze, the vehicle comes equipped with the same 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, though with a bit more power. The vehicle puts 150 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Like the Cruze, GM says a production version of the Tru 140S Concept could be capable of up to 40 mpg highway. Continue Reading
General Motors would like to lure in younger buyers with a new small car that boasts more evocative styling. This is the first called the Chevrolet Code 130R Concept, which boasts a traditional coupe profile and seating for four. Subtle fender flares and an upright fascia help give the vehicle an aggressive, masculine presence, though GM says a production version could boast up to 40 miles per gallon. Continue Reading

Many of the college’s graduates go on to work in areas of automotive design, and as Ed Welburn, General Motors’ Vice President of Global Design, tols us, over 170 CCS graduates currently work within the larger GM design team, 20 of which directly worked on the ATS project. After getting our first impressions of the ATS in the flesh, we must indeed applaud those designers. Continue Reading
Whether General Motors likes it or not, the Sonic story starts in 2004, when GM decided to import a cheap, crummy little econobox from Korea. A product of its newest subsidiary, Daewoo, theChevrolet Aveo had few charms. But it was available as a five-door hatchback, one of the few on the market at the time, and its starting sticker price was under $10,000. It was enough of a pitch that the car sold – and stuck around. Continue Reading
Just when we enjoy the current Chevrolet Camaro, GM offensively announced that they are currently working on the next-generation of the iconic American muscle car for the 2016 model year. Is GM moving too fast? Umm… not really because the Camaro sportscar has been one of the most wanted and best-selling vehicles on US market and other markets.
