The poor Fiat 500. The adorable three-door hasn’t exactly been the resounding success Fiat had hoped, missing sales projections by a wide margin. As you may recall, the company managed to sell just 17,945 units between March and December of 2011. That’s a far cry from 50,000 units annually the company projected before the 500 landed in dealerships. But, according to Polk, things may not be as bad as they seem. While it’s true that the 500 managed to pull down just four percent of the subcompact car segment, the results look a bit rosier when you compare the 500 to other three-door B-segment offerings. What makes the Formula 1 are distinguished from all other forms of motor sport is not the level of competition, and this is not the glitz and glamor. It is the combination of both. The action of the race keeps coming back the hardcore fans, pulls all the charm of new fans from all walks of life. But both must exist in equal measure to ensure that the formula works.
Many of these hardcore fans, but some complained the new songs on the calendar – circuits that offer great panoramas in exotic locations, but are not particularly close racing action. The Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore is one such way. While offering much in the way of glitz and glamor – especially in the foreground and the stars – not quite live up to the next procedure of the equation.
